Pharmacology of Brom 3 Tablet
Bromazepam is a very effective psychotropic medication. It selectively lowers stress and anxiety at lower doses. It has sedative and muscle-relaxant effects at larger doses. Bromazepam binds to the GABA-A receptor, causing it to alter shape and amplifying the inhibitory effects. The activity of other neurotransmitters is unaffected.
Dosage & Administration of Brom 3 Tablet
Standard dosage: Average dosage for outpatient therapy is 1.5-3 mg up to three times daily. Treatment of outpatients should begin with low doses, gradually increasing to the optimum level.
In severe cases, especially in hospital: 6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily. The overall treatment generally should not be more than 8-12 weeks. In certain cases extension beyond the maximum treatment period may be necessary; if so, it should be taken with re-evaluation of the patient's status with special expertise.
Elderly and debilitated patients: Elderly patients and those with impaired hepatic functions require lower doses.
Children: Bromazepam is usually not indicated in children, but if the physician feels bromazepam treatment is appropriate, then the dose should be adjusted to their low bodyweight (about 0.1-0.3 mg/kg bodyweight)
Bromazepam tablets are for oral administration
Interaction of Brom 3 Tablet
Bromazepam's sedative effects may be increased when coupled with other centrally active medications. Antidepressants, hypnotics, opioids, antipsychotics, sedatives, antiepileptic medicines, sedative antihistamines, and anesthetics are examples of these medications. Cimetidine may extend bromazepam's elimination half-life when taken together. Bromazepam should not be used with alcohol because the sedative effect of bromazepam may be amplified by the alcohol.
Contraindications
Patients with a known hypersensitivity to bromazepam, severe respiratory insufficiency, severe hepatic insufficiency, or sleep apnea syndrome should not use bromazepam.
Side Effect of Brom 3 Tablet
Fatigue, sleepiness, muscular weakness, numbed muscles, decreased awareness, disorientation, headache, ataxia, and other side effects are common. These side effects are more common at the beginning of treatment and generally go away after a while. Therapeutic dosages can cause anterograde amnesia.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Bromazepam's safety during pregnancy has yet to be determined. Bromazepam is secreted in breast milk, therefore it's best to avoid it during pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
The use of benzodiazepines and benzodiazepines can lead to physical and psychological dependence on these products. This dependence depends on the dose and duration of treatment; it is also higher in susceptible patients with a history of alcohol. Once physical dependence occurs, the completion of treatment will be accompanied by withdrawal symptoms. These can include headaches, muscle aches, extreme anxiety, tension, confusion, and irritability. Since there is an increased risk of withdrawal and rebound syndrome after abrupt withdrawal from the drug, it is recommended to gradually reduce the dose. It is not recommended to use bromazepam as the main treatment for insomnia caused by psychosis. Be cautious when driving a car or operating machinery.
Storage Conditions
Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
